Abstract This Regulation aims at implementing ISPS Code effectively in order to enhance the security of ships used in international trade and domestic shipping and associated port facilities by detecting security threats and taking preventive measures against security incidents, in the waters under the jurisdiction of Turkey. This Regulation sets forth provisions on authority, duties and responsibilities of relevant institutions, as well as procedures and principles of implementation of ISPS Code. This Regulation was drafted in accordance with the Regulation (EC) No 725/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 31 March 2004 on enhancing ship and port facility security, the Directive 2005/65/EC of the European Parliament And of the Council of 26 October 2005 on enhancing port security and the Commission Regulation (EC) No 884/2005 of 10 June 2005 laying down procedures for conducting Commission inspections in the field of maritime security.
