Abstract This Regulation aims at (i) compliance of Turkish-flagged ships and vessels and their operators with the International Safety Management Code, (ii) pollution prevention, (iii) safe management and operation of ships, and (iv) establishment and implementation of a safety management system by operators. This Regulation sets forth procedures and principles of safety inspections, as well as provisions on duties and responsibilities of ship operators, certification and standards. The objective of establishment of a safety management system is to ensure safety at sea, to prevent human injury or loss of life, and to avoid damage to the environment and to the ship.
