Abstract This Regulation of the Minister of Marine Economy and Inland Navigation, which is composed of 26 articles and nine Annexes, establishes forms and methods of monitoring homogeneous surface water bodies and homogeneous groundwater bodies, including: types and objectives of monitoring; criteria for the selection of water bodies for monitoring; criteria for determining measurement points; the scope and frequency of monitoring; referential methodologies and conditions for ensuring the quality of monitoring. Monitoring of uniform surface water bodies shall be carried out in the way which enables obtaining a coherent and comprehensive assessment of the ecological status or ecological potential, chemical status of surface water in each river basin and assigning one of five water quality classes to uniform surface water bodies, and quantitative presentation of time and spatial variability of water quality indicators for biological, hydromorphological, physicochemical and chemical elements.
