Abstract

The present Regulation, issued by the Swedish Food Agency, contains provisions on organic food production and control of organic food production. Before an operator places food on the market as organic food, that operator must notify his activities to a control body. A control body wishing to perform control tasks within organic food production must apply to the Swedish National Food Agency to get control tasks delegated to it within one or more of the following areas: 1. unprocessed plant foods; 2. unprocessed animal foods; 3. aquaculture products and algae for food purposes; 4. processed agricultural products for food purposes. The control body shall immediately notify the responsible control authority when it has detected a serious infringement.
