Abstract This Regulation, consisting of 44 articles divided into ten Chapters and seven Annexes, establishes rules for the exploitation of Aquatic Conservation Areas. The Regulation is carried out with the aim of regulating the use and management of Aquatic Conservation Areas in the fields of Fishing, Aquaculture, Aquatic Nature Tourism, as well as Research and Education based on the principles of fisheries resource conservation. The objective of this Ministerial Regulation includes: a) activities for the exploitation of Aquatic Conservation Areas; b) Licensing; c) Reporting; d) Monitoring, evaluation, and guidance; and e) Supervision. The Aquatic Conservation Areas exploitation is carried out through the following activities: a) Fishing; b) Aquaculture; c) Aquatic Nature Tourism; or d) Research and Education. The exploitation of the Aquatic Conservation Area is carried out based on the Management and Zoning Plan of the Aquatic Conservation Area within the Sustainable Fisheries Zone. Fishing activities shall be carried out using fishing vessels of a maximum size of 10 gross tons. Fishing activities must pay attention to: a) capacity and environmental conditions of fisheries resources; b) fishing methods; and c) fishing gear.
