Department of protection and rational use of hunting resources (Hunting Department) is a special state institution for the protection and regulation of utilization of wildlife species on the territory of the Russian Federation which activity is coordinated by the Ministry of Natural Resources within the sphere of its competence. Hunting Department and its territorial branches, committees and departments of the regional governments, territorial, provincial administration and administration of autonomous regions constitute the integral system of management of hunting of the Russian Federation. Hunting Department has under its jurisdiction game reserves, forest game reserves, game reserves pertaining to agricultural organizations and other enterprises and organizations engaged in protection and rational use of hunting resources, manufacturing of agricultural commodities, scientific research and planning and designing in the field of hunting.
