This Regulation enters into force on 10 April 2019.
Abstract

This Regulation, consisting of 37 articles divided into eleven Chapters and three Annexes, establishes the Fishing Vessel Monitoring System, abbreviated as SPKP. The objectives of the SPKP are: a) improve the effectiveness of fisheries management; b) increase compliance of fishing vessels carrying out fishing and/or transporting fish according to the provisions of the legislation; c) obtain data and information about fishing vessel activities in the context of responsible and sustainable fisheries management; and d) improve the implementation of law enforcement in the field of fisheries. The Regulation is divided as follows: General Requirements (Chap. I); Organizing SPKP (Chap. II); Infrastructure and Means of SPKP (Chap. III); SPKP Provider (Chap. IV); Installation and Activation of SPKP Transmitter (Chap. V); Changes, Extensions, and Replacements of SKAT (Chap. VI); Rights, Obligations, and Prohibitions (Chap. VII); Data Ownership (Chap. VIII); Evaluation (Chap. IX); Transitional Provisions (Chap. X); Final Provisions (Chap. XI).
