Abstract

This Regulation provides for control of claim on the labels and advertisement of processed food products. The Regulation defines: processed food, with or without additives; claim, as any form of description that states or suggests that certain characteristics of a food are related to origin, nutritional content, nature, production, processing, composition or other quality factors; food label; food advertisement; food nutrients; reduction of disease risk claim; complementary food for infants; food for medical purposes; business actors. Matters covered by this Regulation include: nutrition consumption patterns; public health condition and claim on reduction of health risks; minimum requirements for claim on the labels; sugar claims; claim assessment; laboratory testing; prohibitions for business actors, in order to protect consumer.
