Abstract

No plant or part of a plant shall be imported into the Protectorate except under the authority of a permit previously obtained from, and signed by, the Director of Agriculture or an authorized officer (reg. 1). Applications for a permit shall submit information specified in regulation 2. Section 3 lists compulsory posts of entry. All plants, seed, fruit other than dried, canned or bottled fruits shall be inspected (reg. 4). Powers of inspectors are outlined in regulation 5. The Director of Agriculture may require imported plants to be detained in quarantine or in special nurseries or places approved by him, for such period as he may think fit (reg. 8). No plant other than of the order Gramineae (except seeds) intended for use as fodder shall be imported into Uganda (reg. 10). The remaining regulations deal with the import permits for injurious animals and insects (reg. 11), transit of plants or portions of plants specified in the Schedule (reg. 12).
