This Regulation enters into force six months after its publication in the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Regulation consisting of 111 articles aims to set out the general rules of food hygiene throughout the food chain, including primary production, processing, preparing, manufacturing, packing, transporting, storing, distribution, displaying, servicing, donating and selling food to consumers in order to produce safe food that is suitable for human consumption. It deals with: (i) responsibilities of food business operators, such as licensing requirements, food traceability and recall and health status of food handlers; (ii) primary production, including appropriate facilities and procedures, protection against contamination, clean condition of facilities, equipment, containers and vehicles used and protection of food from hazards related to contamination from air, soil, water, feed, fertilizers, pesticides, veterinary drugs, fecal contamination and cleaning and disinfection agents; (iii) location, design and structure, including ventilation, lighting, drainage facilities; (iv) equipment, relating with materials and conditions of all equipment and containers other than one-only use (disposable) containers and packaging material, which comes into direct contact with food; (v) personal hygiene of food handlers; (vi) temperature control; (vii) food handling areas; (viii) food reception and storage regarding raw materials or ingredients to be protected from any contamination and prevent harmful deterioration; (ix) heat treatment; (x) water supply including potable water, recycled water and water recovered from food processing; (xi) food packaging; (xii) food transportation (including import and export) to prevent any contamination of the food, to maintain its integrity and at the appropriate temperatures, food transport vehicles; (xiv) food display and deals with raw food, unpackaged food and ready to eat food; (xv) food waste; (xvi) food safety management system, implementing the Good Hygienic Practices, the traceability in compliance with the regulation issued by the Authority, recording system; (xiii) mobile and temporary food establishments (e.g. marquees, tents, market stalls, mobile sales vehicles) that shall comply with any applicable provisions in this Regulation as related to the types of activities in the specific establishment.
