Abstract This Regulation determines: the categories of beet seed marketed on the European Union (EU) market; the control of those seeds by official bodies for the purpose of certification; the activities under the control of the official bodies and requirements for their implementation; the conditions under which the seeds are offered on the market; the certification of the seeds through field inspection and laboratory analyzes for sowing qualities, the size of the batches and the size of the seed samples; packaging and labeling; the conditions for subsequent control of such planting materials; the trade in non-permanently certified seeds; the import of seeds from third countries; the trade in seeds produced under specific conditions (beet seeds, including mixtures for specific purposes); the control of such seeds offered on the market, including seeds with reduced requirements.
