It aims to ensure that suppliers of medicines for animals and providers of animal health services submit relevant information about dispensed and used medicines for animals to the Norwegian Food Safety Authority. Food authorities shall record, process and use this information to ensure safe food, promote public health, animal health, animal welfare, consumer considerations, and safeguard environmentally friendly production. Suppliers of medicines for animals shall provide information about the dispensing of (a) prescription drugs for animals, including medicated feed and (b) feed containing coccidiostats. Veterinarians and fisheries biologists shall notify the Food Safety Authority of all prescription drugs they have been supplied with and applied on food-producing animals and horses.
