Abstract

This Decision of the Food Safety Authority delegates authority on Matmerk, an independent institution, the following authority under Regulation No. 698 on the protection of origin and geographical indication and provenience of traditional foodstuff (the Regulation): to assess applications and recommend a decision to the Food Safety Authority, as well as to make individual decisions on the suspension and rejection of applications pursuant to Article 15 of the Regulation; to assess applications for amendments of specific product regulations issued pursuant to Article 15 of the Regulation, and to make recommendations to the Food Safety Authority according to Article 16 of the Regulation; to assess objections and make individual decisions on whether objections shall be upheld or not, in accordance with Article 20 of the Regulation; to assess the application for approval in accordance with the specific product regulation issued pursuant to Article 15 of the Regulation, and to make recommendations to the Food Safety Authority in accordance with Article 22 of the Regulation; and to determine and collect fees in accordance with Article 27 of the Regulation.
