Abstract

This Regulation establishes requirements for the species American mink ( Mustela vison ), ferret ( Mustela putorius ), raccoon dogs ( Nyctereutes procynoides ), the blue fox ( alopex lagopus ), silver or red fox ( Vulpes vulpes ), chinchilla ( Chinchilla Chinchilla , Chinchilla brevicaudata , Chinchilla lanigera ) and nutria ( Myocastor coypus ) (hereinafter fur animal ) reared for the purpose of obtaining hides and skins and a room or building intended for that purpose. It consists of 14 sections: Scope of application (1); Person directly engaged in keeping fur animals (2); Inspection of fur animal health and welfare (3); Requirements for fur farm (4); Room or building for keeping fur animals and means and equipment (5); Safety of fur animal housing or structure and tools and equipment (6); Microclimate of fur room or building (7); Keeping of fur animals (8); Requirements for keeping of ferrets (9); Requirements for maintenance of blue fox, silver fox and red fox (10); Requirements for keeping chinchillas (11); Requirements for maintenance of nutria (12); Feeding and watering of fur animals (13); and Implementation of regulation (14).
