Abstract

This Regulation lays down rules governing youth's right to participate in all access-regulated fisheries of Regulation No. 2438 on access to participate in the coastal vessel group's fishing and certain other fisheries for 2023, with the exception of fishing covering the species Greenland halibut and sprat. The youth fishing scheme applies to youth who will turn 12 by 2023 and have not yet reached the age of 25 at the time of the Regulation's entry into force. It applies from 12 June 2023 until 18 August 2023. Those who wish to participate in the youth fishing scheme must register by submitting a form available on the Norwegian Fisheries Directorate's website and obtain a participant number. The vessel used in the youth fishing scheme must be registered in the Norwegian Fisheries Directorate's vessel registration, the Small Boat Register with the Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue, or the Ship Register. Rules are laid down concerning fishing gear restrictions; youth fishing managed by a municipality; total allowable catch; landing and sale of catch; etc. Special requirements apply for certain types of fisheries.
