Abstract

This Regulation establishes the categories of cereal seed and quality requirements set for cereal seed, the types of hybrid variety and inbred lines, a list of pests which reduce the quality of seed and their maximum permitted quantities in seed, the requirements for production of seed, the sizes of samples and the requirements for assessment of the conformity of seed, the procedure and requirements for certification of seed, a list of species subject to certification, the requirements for the content and term of validity of documents in proof of certification, the requirements for packaging, formal and substantive requirements for applications for a packaging licence, the requirements for the content of packaging licences, the requirements for packaging and closing of sales packages of seed and for the labelling of sales packaging of seed, the procedure for the issue of documents in proof of certification or control, formal and substantive requirements for labels, the requirements for the label and accompanying documents for cereal seed which is not yet finally certified and the requirements for the frequency and extent of post-control trials. This Regulation establishes the requirements for the production of seed intended for growing plants of cereal species in order to obtain agricultural produce, except for growing plants for a decorative purpose or for the production of seed.
