Abstract

This Regulation shall be applicable to packaging and labelling of liquid and solid foodstuffs. The identification of prepackages with predefined nominal quantity is the use of an e-shape in the marking of the nominal quantity of the prepackage. The predefined nominal quantity of the product containing in the prepackage may be from 5 ml to 10 l (included) or from 5 g to 10 kg (included) and may possess values listed in Tables 1 to 4. Conformity to the requirements of the marking of the prepackage shall be ensured by the operator of prepackages. Markings of prepackages must be indelible, easily legible and visible in normal conditions. In addition to markings established by special legislation, the marking of prepackage must contain: (a) record of the nominal quantity of the prepackage; (b) identification data of the operator of the prepackage (record and/or registration mark); (c) e-shaped mark close to (before or after) the record of the nominal quantity). Note: (a) the e-shaped mark must be at least 3 mm high and its shape must comply with the example provided for in Annex B of the Estonian standard EVS 749:1998 «Prepackages. Markings and metrological requirements to the nominal quantity»; and (b) the e-shaped mark cannot be affixed to prepackages the nominal quantities of which are written in the brackets of the Table 1.
