Abstract

This Regulation approves the Convention on the Internationsl Maritime Organization, adopted by Maritime Convention of the United Nations signed in Geneva on the 6th March 1948. The purposes of the Organization are: to provide machinery for co-operation among Governments relating to shipping engaged in international trade; to encourage standards in matters concerning the maritime safety, efficiency of navigation and prevention and control of marine pollution from ships; and to deal with administrative and legal matters.
