This text enters into force on the day of its publication in the Official Gazette (published on 9 February 2021).
Abstract

This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Bulgarian Animal Protection Act, determines the following: 1. procedure for implementation of the National Programme for control of the population of stray dogs on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria and procedures for its implementation; 2. requirements to the municipal programmes and plans under article 40 (paragraph 3) of the above mentioned Animal Protection Act; 3. mechanisms of financing and related reporting. This national programme shall be based on the following principles: 1. achieving a healthy environment for the citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria and improving animal welfare; 2. management and reduction of the population of stray dogs in an effective way through the application of indicated techniques (mass castration).
