Abstract

Regulation 354 of 2018 expands the area of the regional park of Zagori and converts the park into Natural Park with an overall area of 24590,320 ha according to the map and the zoning data presented in the regulation. The area includes urban territories as well as mixed ones with agriculture and forestry areas. Zagori natural park is divided into two administration and conservation sub-zones: i- the central sub-zone that includes the main forestry habitats and is considered with a high-value zone with regard to the natural heritage and biodiversity. Permissible activities in this area include scientific research, ecotourism activities, and seasonal grazing; ii- the sub-zone of traditional use where traditional activities such as agriculture and livestock feeding are allowed but not construction or other activities that change the natural state of the ecosystem. The Ministry of Tourism and Environment in collaboration with other line ministries, local government units, and professional civil society organizations share responsibility for the preparation of the park management plan.
