Abstract

It is prohibited to vessels registered with a EU Member State to fish in the Norwegian economic zone and the fishery zone around Jan Mayen, between 12 and 200 nautical miles from the coastline. However, they are allowed to fish these quantities in the Norwegian economic zone north of 62 degrees North between 12 and 200 nautical miles from the coastline: 20 524 tons of cod; 1 200 tons of haddock c) 2550 tonnes of saithe; 22 179 tons of mackerel in ICES zone IIa (this quota can be fished in ICES area IVa); 1 500 tons of redfish (Sebastes mentella and Sebastes marinus) as bycatch; 350 tons of other species as bycatch; and 50 tons of Greenland halibut as bycatch. When fishing for other species a maximum of 7% blend of Greenland halibut may be fished and landed, as well as a max. of 12% Greenland halibut as bycatch for each catch. Vessels flying the flag of Member States of the EU zone may fish for mackerel in accordance with the Agreed Record of Conclusions of Fisheries Consultations between the European Union and Norway on the management of mackerel in the North-East Atlantic for 2014 of 12 March 2014.
