Abstract

This Regulation, based on the provisions of paragraph 76 (1) of the Water Act, and in compliance with the provisions of the Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and the Council establishing a framework for Community Water Policy, establishes a list of priority substances and priority hazardous substances, limit values for the environmental quality of priority substances, priority hazardous substances and certain other pollutants and methods for their application for the assessment of the chemical status of surface water bodies; activities related to the watch list of substances with the aim of collecting data to support the future prioritisation of substances; and environmental quality limit values for river basin-specific pollutants for the assessment of the ecological status of surface water bodies. The Regulation consists of seven sections: Scope of regulation (1); List of priority substances and priority hazardous substances (2); Environmental quality limit values for priority substances, priority hazardous substances and certain other pollutants (3); Methods for application of environmental quality limit values for priority substances, priority hazardous substances and certain other pollutants for assessment of chemical status of surface water bodies (4); Environmental quality limit values for river basin-specific pollutants (5); Activities related to substance watch list (6); and Implementing provisions (7).
