Felling operations must ensure: (a) the continuous, sustainable and rational use of forest resources; (b) that the water conservation and protective functions of forests is preserved and strengthened; and (c) reforestation, increased forest productivity and prevention of erosion. The type of felling and timber extraction determined according to the species, use, and age of the trees and the amount and condition of undergrowth.
