Abstract

This Regulation sets the requirements and types of sanitary felling and the technologies that may be used. Sanitary felling shall promote the growth of highly productive precious forest species and conserve and strengthen timber use and the protective functions of forests. Sanitary felling shall entail the removal of unfavourable tree species to create favourable growing conditions for precious main tree species. The following types of sanitary felling shall be authorized: (a) first cleaning; (b) early thinning; (c) isolation; and (d) advanced thinning. Standard requirements for sanitary felling shall determine: (a) timing and duration; (b) intensity; and (c) frequency.
