It prohibits prawn fishing beyond the established quotas. The total allowable catch for prawns in the areas defined by the Regulation is 1 442 tonnes for the North Sea and 1 919 for Norwegian waters in Skagerak. Rules are laid down regulating the allocation of quotas per period, maximum catch per period, use of fishing quotas throughout the year, etc. The Directorate of Fisheries can order a fishing halt when the quotas have been fished up.
