Abstract

The purpose of this Regulation is to preserve a distinctive geological feature that is important for understanding of the Oslo field's fossil-bearing rocks and rare and vulnerable nature in the form of rich and threatened ash-dominated swamp forest types. The area extending to approx. 35 acres has a special scientific importance in terms of sediments with high educational and research value and particular importance for biodiversity due to elm-linden forests, reel-ash forest and alder-ash forests with species-rich and moss flora. The objective is to maintain conservation values in the most untouched state, and possibly developing them.
