Abstract The present Regulation, adopted by the Norwegian Fisheries Directorate, authorizes Norwegian vessels with hunting permits to capture up to 11,548 Greenland seals in the West Ice and 7,000 Greenland seals in the East Ice. The Regulation prohibits the hunting of females in breeding lairs and Greenland seals pups. Further rules concern seasons, reporting obligations, control and surveillance, and sanctions.
