Abstract

The present Regulation lays down rules on a grant scheme intended to help fulfill Norway's obligations under the 1972 UNESCO World Heritage Convention and contribute to the development of World Heritage sites as beacons for best practices in the management of natural and cultural environments, including their condition, management, and formal protection. Grants may be provided for activities that contribute to achieving the purpose of the grant scheme. County municipalities, municipalities, museums, organizations, businesses, and individuals are eligible to apply for grants under this scheme. Grants can be awarded for projects and measures related to the areas in Norway that are inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, along with their associated buffer zones. The procedural aspects for applying for the grant are regulated in detail.
