Abstract

This Regulation is intended to promote the profitability and competitiveness of the aquaculture industry within the framework of environmentally sustainable development and contribute to value creation along the Norwegian coast. The Regulation applies in Norwegian land territory and territorial waters, on the continental shelf, and in Norway's economic zone. The provisions pertain to the allocation of new production capacity for aquaculture of edible fish species, including salmon, trout, and rainbow trout, in the sea. The Regulation allocates production capacity in specific production areas. The production capacity is distributed across five different production areas specified in Article 3. The production capacity mentioned in Article 3 is allocated through a closed bidding process, as governed by this Regulation.
