Abstract The Regulation applies to the fishing and landing of saithe (Pollachius Virens) in the North Sea and Skagerrak marine area and beyond its baseline. Of the total allowable catch, 250 tons is allocated to research and educational purposes. It is allowed to fish maximum of 400 tons for saithe in EU waters in the ICES statistical area VIa north of 56° 30'N. Fishing vessels equipped with nets may fish and land up to 5 500 tons. Specific total allowable catch quota with trawl and net equipment is listed under article 3. When fishing for pollock cessates, 10% of other species catch is allowed.
