Abstract

This Regulation, based on the provisions of the national Law on livestock, governs the composition, structure, functions and organization of activities of the Bulgarian Livestock Council. The Council is established as a permanent advisory body to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, which has structures at the regional level aimed to support related activities in the implementation of state policy in the field of animal husbandry. The Council shall perform the following functions: give opinions and proposals on drafts of laws and by-laws and other administrative acts, related to animal husbandry; participate in the examination and make proposals for resolving issues in the field of animal husbandry at regional, national and international level; encourages the conclusion of agreements between the various non-governmental organizations for joint initiatives and activities; make proposals for the development of strategies, programmes and analyzes for the development of animal husbandry; make proposals for overcoming the unfair competition in the animal husbandry in connection with the state of the market; discuss issues concerning the production, processing, purchase and quality of the production; make proposals in the preparation of written statements in connection with the state and prospects for development of the sector "Agriculture", included in the position of the Republic of Bulgaria before the institutions of the European Union; analyze the possibilities for introduction of innovations in the livestock production and improvement of the level of its scientific service; consider issues related to the veterinary medical care of farm animals, the development and management of animal husbandry; discuss measures and support schemes.
