The Regulation provides for setting up a Council with the aim of preventing the pollution of the Karun River, improving the water quality and accessibility of potable water for the local people, and to creating a stable balance between development activities in the fields of agriculture, industry and population settlement in light of the life of Karun river. The text provides for the Council members and duties including regulating environmental protection of the river banks, prevention of river pollution by considering the methods of discharging agricultural, industrial and urban wastes and implementation of development plans with regard to environmental assessment.
