Abstract

This Regulation establishes rules for the prevention, control and eradication of various forms of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE) in animals. This text applies to the production and placing on the market of live animals and products of animal origin, and in some special cases to their export. Separation of live animals and products of animal origin is defined in article 2. This Regulation takes over the provisions of the Regulation (EC) No. 999/2001 laying down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies.
