Abstract

This Regulation of the Ministry pf Justice defines the tasks and duties of the Coast Guard of Sweden and provides for some related matters such as international cooperation. The main task of the Coast Guard is maritime surveillance. The Coast Guard shall also be responsible for environmental rescue services at sea in order to limit consequences of accidents and pollution also for purposes of Antarctic Convention and other specified marine pollution treaties. As to monitoring of fishing, the Coast Guard shall conduct such monitoring of the fishery as the Swedish authority pursuant to some bilateral fisheries agreements and Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 December 2013 on common fisheries policy. The Coast Guard may appoint competent officials to be inspectors for European Union purposes. The Coast Guard shall also be responsible for Sweden's part of the control measures that European the Union is implementing at sea within the area governed by the North-East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC).
