For the purposes of this Regulation, the responsible authority refers to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in respect of species that live on land, and the Marine and Water Authority for the species that live in water. The responsible authority shall carry out the risk assessments required in accordance with Article 5.2 second paragraph of Regulation (EU) No 1143. The Regulation sets out rules for such assessment. Alien invasive species may be designated by the EU or by the Swedish authority. the Regulation sets out certain exemptions and emergency measures for EU-designated species. Control and supervision shall be carried out by various public bodies in accordance with their field of competence.
