Abstract

These Regulations apply to fishing vessels of 24 metres length or more flying the flag of Belize. They do not apply to vessels exclusively engaged in sport fishing, processing of fish at sea, research or training or transportation of fish (reg. 4). Regulation 6 specifies documents which the vessels are required to have on board. Regulation 7 provides for the issue a Fishing Vessel Safety Certificate which shall be subject to a survey of the vessel by a "recognized organization". Other provisions contain safety requirements with respect to the construction and maintenance of the vessel and equipment on board such as radio installations, navigation equipment, live-saving appliances and fire-fighting appliances.
