This Regional Legislative Decree enters into force 90 days after its publication.
Abstract

This Regional Legislative Decree, consisting of 39 articles divided into six Chapters, regulates cider, cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar, produced in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM) and rules to the placing on the market. This diploma defines and characterizes the cider produced in the territory of RAM and establishes the rules applicable to its placing on the market. In particular, it defines the characteristics and classification of vinegar intended for human consumption, in relation to cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar produced in the territory of RAM, and establishes the rules applicable to its placing on the market, in accordance with the provisions Decree-Law No. 174/2007 of 8 May, adapted to the RAM. These provisions apply exclusively to cider, cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar produced in the territory of RAM and do not apply if the purpose is self-consumption, under the terms defined in article 4. The Regional Secretariat responsible for agriculture, through the respective Regional Directorate aims to perform the following activities: a) Regulate the activities of production and placing on the market of cider, cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar; b) Coordinate the licensing processes for agro-industrial facilities and establishments of local productive activity dedicated to the production of cider; c) Coordinate the licensing processes of agro-industrial facilities and establishments of local productive activity dedicated to the production of these products; d) Promote the verification of compliance with the legal provisions applicable to these products; e) Encourage the promotion of quality of cider, cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar for placing on the market.
