Abstract This Regional Legislative Decree is composed of 20 articles. It regulates the Azores Regional Agricultural Reserve (RAR) providing management principles, use restrictions and control mechanisms. The RAR consists of soils of high agricultural suitability that have been or may be the object of study for major investments, with a view to preserving or increasing their productivity and making the most of their potential with a view to modernize, rationalize and make a more sustainable agriculture. RAR areas consist of soils of capacity classes I to IV and/or other types of soil, the safeguarding of which is appropriate.
