This Regional Legislative Decree enters into force on the day after its publication.
Abstract

This Regional Legislative Decree, consisting of 3 Chapters, establishes the legal framework for the management of archaeological heritage, for prevention, rescue and investigation of the archaeological heritage in the Azores. It specifies all the requirements to be satisfied in order to perform the above mentioned activity within the archipelago of Azores. The archaeological activity in the Azores under strictly scientific enterprise conditions, being prohibited destructive or intrusive practices that may destroy the archaeological cultural, land or underwater property. The archaeological activity may be performed only by the Board of the Regional Government. This Decree is divided as follows: General principles (Chap. I); Archaeological heritage (Chap. II); Archaeological sites (Chap. III).
