PAE enters into force on the day after its publication on the Official Gazette.
Abstract

This Regional Legislative Decree, consisting of 9 articles and 2 Annexes, approves the Sectoral Plan for Land Use Planning for Extractive Activities of Azores islands, abbreviated to PAE. Implementing Rules and Planning plants, Constraints and Identification of Consolidated Areas of extractions of non-metallic mineral resources, are published in Annexes. SAP overall objective is organize the exploration activity of non-metallic mineral resources with the valuation of environmental and landscape values ​​and socio-economic development. The general objective is developed in the following orientation axes reflecting on one hand, the characterization and integrated diagnosis made and, secondly, an ambition/vision of the future Azorean extractive activity and ways to manage the development: to promote the rational exploitation of non-metallic mineral resources in the Region; to safeguard the strategic potential of non-metallic mineral resources in the Region; to promote the recovery of environmental areas and degraded landscapes due to the extractive activities of non-metallic mineral resources; to foster knowledge and innovation associated with the extractive sector. Annexes specify peculiarities and geographical maps of Azorean islands.
