Abstract The scope of this Regional Law shall be legal regulation of apiculture, protection, reproduction and use of bees, apiculture products and wild insects pollinators, promotion of apiculture and protection of rights and interests of natural and legal persons carrying out apiculture and breeding of bees and wild insects pollinators. Owners can place apiaries on condition of compliance with zootechnical, veterinary and sanitary requirements regulating bee keeping (art. 5). Basic requirements for protection of bees and wild insects pollinators shall include: (a) rational management and reproduction of bees and wild insects pollinators; b) optimal population of bees and other wild insects pollinators in areas under crops and grasses in need of pollination; and (c) veterinary and sanitary servicing of bees. Selection and bee raising apiaries shall be set for improvement of bee genetic resources and reproduction and introduction thereof in the required areas (art. 9).
