Abstract This Regional Law establishes that citizens shall have the right for timber extraction of forest species for individual personal needs for payment, except for traditional forest management by indigenous small ethnic communities. The period of timber extraction, including logging, shall not exceed one year (art. 2). Rates of timber extraction shall be established as follows: (a) for housing construction – up to 80 cubic metres once in 50 years; (b) for heating – up to 15 cubic metres annually; and (c) other individual personal needs – up to 25 cubic metres once in 10 years (Annex 1).
