Abstract This Regional Law regulates some issues of the activities of village chiefs as a form of public participation of the population in local government. Village chief can be appointed with a view of coordination between local government of the municipalities and the local population of rural areas for decision-making related to issues of local significance. Village chief shall have the following powers: (a) provides organizational and informational support to the residents of rural settlement when applying to the local authorities municipal entity; (b) holds a personal reception of residents of the rural settlement, sends appeals to local authorities based on its results; and (c) provides assistance to local self-government bodies of municipalities for the prevention of natural and technological disasters and mitigation of the consequences thereof.
