Abstract This Regional Law establishes the main directions of the activity of regional state bodies for ensuring food security. The fundamental tasks of the regional authorities shall be to ensure food security and to ensure the necessary level of regional food production (art. 2). The required regional food security shall be set at 65% of regional food production in relation to the demand of the regional population for food products calculated in accordance with physical nutritional norms. Food security shall be ensured through: (a) purchase and supply of the required amount of agricultural commodities and food; (b) development of long-term economic relations with RF regions and foreign state for ensuring supply of food and alimentary raw materials for food processing at the regional level; (c) organization of the required production level of agricultural commodities and food with the consideration of soil and climatic conditions; (d) maintenance of stability at food market; and (e) establishment of rationing of food in case of the outbreak of food crisis (art. 4).
