Abstract This Regional Law establishes the modalities of radiation control of transboundary commodities in the process of transit transportation through regional territory with a view of preventing radioactive contamination thereof. It shall have the following purposes: (a) ensuring radiation safety of the population and the environment; (b) supervision and control over sources of ionizing radiation on the territory, entrance and exit thereof; (c) prevention of unauthorized import and transit of hazardous radioactive substances and cargo. Radiation control shall be applicable in accordance with the following radiation control and radiation safety principles: (a) reliability and completeness of radiation control; (b) compliance of radiation characteristics of commodities with certified properties of commodities; and (c) rate setting – compatibility of radiation indices with established radiation levels from all sources of ionizing radiation.
