Abstract This Regional Law regulates relations in the sphere of constitution, protection and management of regional protected areas with a view of conservation of unique and typical ecosystems, wild fauna and wild flora species, genetic fund thereof, study of natural processes in the biosphere and control over changes thereof, and ecological education of the population. Protected areas shall be classified as regional and local, distributed in the following categories: (a) regional – natural parks; state nature reserves; nature monuments; dendrological parks and botanical gardens; wetlands; and aisles/wayside trees; and (b) urban parks and recreational areas.
