Abstract This Regional Law establishes the modalities of keeping regional Red Book of protected and endangered plant and animal species, and ensuring conservation of genetic fund thereof. Regional Red Book shall be kept by the authorized state regional environmental institution and it shall be systematically updated. Red Book shall contain data on recorded species, data bank on wild fauna and wild flora and shall monitor the aforesaid species. Species complying with the following requirements shall be subject to recording in the regional Red Book: (a) species requiring special protection; (b) vulnerable and endemic species; (c) endangered species faced with extinction; (d) species protected by international agreements and conventions and species recorded in the International Red Book and Red Book of the Russian Federation.
