Abstract This Regional Law establishes that bees, bee families and apiaries shall be subject to legal protection. This Regional Law regulates relations originating from bee raising, use and protection of bees, obtaining, processing and trade of apiculture products and also protection of rights and legal interests of bee farmers (art. 2). Bee raising activity must comply with the following requirements: (a) conservation of genetic resources of bees; (b) knowledge of vital activity cycle and reproduction of bees; (c) optimal population of bees in areas under crops and grasses in need of pollination; (d) observance of epidemiological and sanitary requirements related to bee raising; and (e) prevention of damages to ecosystems and human health (art. 5). State supervision over state, use of bees and quality of processing of apiculture products shall be carried out by the regional Ministry of Agriculture and authorized state environmental institution (art. 6). Owners of apiaries must register them at the local executive body (art. 9). Veterinary and sanitary certificate shall be issued to all the apiaries twice a year (art. 10).
