Abstract This Regional Law establishes the modalities of organization of protected areas of regional and local significance, management thereof with a view of ensuring favourable environment, conservation of landscape and biological diversity, tourist and recreational resources, and ecological education of the population. Formation of protected areas can be authorized also without expropriation of land parcels from tenants, landlords and landowners, but restrictions related to land use of protected areas can be imposed thereupon. The aforesaid restrictions (encumbrances) shall be subject to state registration. Regional protected areas shall be property of the regional public administration and local protected areas shall be property of municipal authorities. Promotion and development of protected areas shall be carried out in accordance with planning and distribution scheme. Protected areas shall be subject to constant monitoring.
