Abstract This Regional Law establishes legal grounds for ensuring radiation safety of the population. Radiation safety shall be intended protection of public health, of the present and the future generations against impact by ionizing radiation. Basic principles of ensuring radiation safety shall be non excess of individual radiation levels from all sources of ionizing radiation, prohibition of all activities in which received radiation level does not exceed risks of possible damages due to radiation and optimization in the form of keeping as low as possible individual radiation levels and the number of staff exposed to ionizing radiation. In case of radiation disaster proposed arrangements for mitigation of the consequences thereof must bring maximum positive effects of the reduction of ionizing radiation.
